Background

I’m a fit 50 year old; I exercise frequently and I am always active. Cycling and keeping fit are a part of my lifestyle, so I feel healthy. Yet over the years I had put on weight, lost it again and put it on again – really I guess part of the aging process.

Despite my active lifestyle and my ability to shift weight when I put it on, my body just didn’t make me feel good about myself. I had been meaning to have a tummy tuck about 10 years ago, and I wish I had done it then, but it was only now that I went for it.

My consultation was excellent. Dr. Marco Vricella discussed the options, risks and benefits. He suggested I also go ahead with a breast reduction and some liposuction, as he could understand that I wanted an overall a better look, and I might as well have the procedures done at the same time.

I have to say I didn’t think too much about the surgery; once I had decided to go ahead with it that was it. I had decided and didn’t want to think more about it or worry about it.

Procedures

I waited a few months before going ahead with the operation as I needed to save more money, as of course having three procedures was more expensive. The day of the op went really well, although as always I was sick after the op due to my established reaction the anesthetic, but that was over quickly. I then remained at the HC Hospital for 3 nights in my private room. The hospital is lovely, so luxurious and more than anything the team there are lovely.

I wasn’t in any real pain afterwards. I’m not sure if I have a higher pain threshold than most, or if it was because I am fit, but really I wasn’t in pain. I was in some discomfort, but really I felt perfectly okay.

I took a few weeks off work, and then extended that by a further 2 weeks – I think I got back to my normal life too quickly so maybe I overdid it slightly, so I took the doctor’s advice and remained off work for a little longer.

Aftercare

Now, after few months I look and feel great – I have even been on an activity holiday. Shortly after the procedure I went back to Marbella to have the stitches out but thereafter, all my checkups and follow-ups were in Gibraltar which has been really convenient for me.

Results

Everyone can see the difference!  I of course look slimmer and I can tell you, my husband is very happy! I’m telling my close friends about the cosmetic surgery – I am so proud of it! I can’t wait for summer – already buying new clothes
