Eye Bag Removal (Blepharoplasty)
Some patients have an unsightly excess of skin, and sometimes fat, in the upper and/or lower eyelids, giving them a general look of being tired. With Blepharoplasty, this is relatively easy to correct. The scars are practically invisible, hidden within the natural folds of the skin. The surgery can be performed under local anaesthesia with slight sedation or general anaesthesia and the eyelids of the patient will look refreshed and less heavy.
In the areas treated it is possible to observe some swelling and bruising, but this situation improves greatly in the first week after surgery. Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that gives a very high level of satisfaction to patients and provides very natural final results.
Doctor’s Recommendations
The aim of the operation is to remove the excess of skin and/or the fat pads in the eyelids without giving you an artificial appearance. If you are looking for a way to refresh your face and have a more youthful appearance this is a great solution.
Facelift surgery can be performed at the same time as Blepharoplasty surgery if necessary.
Results
The results of Blepharoplasty surgery are usually very favourable and long lasting, giving the patient a rejuvenated look. Most of the bruising/swelling will disappear over the first week and usually after 10 days the patient can go back to their daily routine.
When will I be able to see normally?
Usually you are able to go back to reading and watching television after 2-3 days. However, if you wear contact lenses you might not be able to use them for up to 2 weeks after surgery and may feel some discomfort for a while.
Will the scars be visible?
During the first few months the scars may have a pink appearance and then will practically disappear. It is obviously important to avoid direct exposure to the sun with the use of sun glasses and sun screen.
After 2 weeks makeup may be applied to the eyelids.
